Kirk has been working in high performance and distributed computing for nearly 20 years. His focus has primarily been on performance, working on architecting, developing, and tuning applications running on Cray and other high performance computing platforms.

Kirk now specializes in Java™, where he works in all aspects of performance and tuning in each phase of a project life cycle. Author, speaker, consultant, Kirk was recognized as a 2006 Java Champion recipient for his contributions to the Java community.

Steve has been a Software developer for 20 years providing consulting services in application architecture, design, monitoring, and performance tuning. Most recently, he was a Principal Consultant at Sybase Inc. specializing in Java™, database architecture, object oriented design, performance tuning and mentoring. Due to his strong passion for analyzing data he branched out on his own and created a high performance patent pending data visualization product called LiquiMap, which helps developers and analysts gain insights from their performance data.

Steve is also the creator of the popular open source monitoring tool, JAMon, which allows developers to easily monitor their web pages, database interactions and many other aspects of their applications. Steve is a regular contributor to Java performance related forums, has a BS in Statistics from Virginia Tech, and is an enthusiastic and accessible teacher.

Ray Hindman

Ray Hindman

Ray has been working with Kodewerk since it's inception. He started programming in 1988 was an early adopter of Java™ starting with the platform in 1996. He has been specializing in building distributed high-available / fault-tolerant messaging systems since 1992. Since 1998 Ray focused on the Tibco product suite to build systems responsible for moving trading data.

Ray has also delivered messaging systems for large multi-nationals in the telecomms industry. Most recently, he has created interactive visualization solutions to identify real-time issue and and trend analysis for global mobile operators. In his spare time, Ray enjoys jazz, nanotechnology research and hang-gliding.
