Center For AIW

Design Brief

The Center for AIW presented a number of unique challenges that set it apart from the usual website redesign or even an education website redesign. Firstly, it’s both a physical center of operations and an educational framework. So the website had dual functions which served a few distinct groups of users. The second challenge was the complexity of the AIW Framework itself. Knowing what content to include and how best to structure and present it, was a serious challenge. Thankfully we had plenty of collaborative help and some excellent brand guidelines.

Education Website Design

Through the discovery process, we knew we could improve the look and feel of the website. We saw easy wins for improving the information hierarchy and navigation, and organizing content in a more helpful way. We also overhauled the entire front-end experience. So we reduced clutter, added clear calls-to-action and introduced some great interactive elements. We also humanized the entire site by adding photos of the coaches at work wherever possible. Finally, we improved the functionality by developing a coaches directory that filtered coaches by role and location and creating a custom application for events.

Our amazing client didn’t just email us a compliment…they wrote an entire post about the website redesign process

The Result

This education based redesign was a significant achievement for our team. Moving from Joomla to WordPress removed a lot of difficulty in managing content, and vastly increased the ease of creating blogs. For end-users, they benefited from a host of new apps – such as the coaches directory and events page. Also for educators and schools interested in the AIW Framework, the site was infinitely more welcoming, easier to understand and navigate. Lastly, we were really proud of how the all important mobile experience turned out.
